Hire a boat to explore the waterways, go fishing for mullet and
black bream and watch the playful dolphins swim around in the water.
Visit the town's commercial centre, located in the inland of the
Esplanade with direct access to sandy beaches and the popular Fisherman's
wharf
Visit the Paynesville Community Craft Centre and admire the showcases
of local artists
Relax and have coffee at one of the waterside cafes and restaurants,
walk around the newlands arm walking track, along the lakeshore
Go for a swim or just wadding in Lake King, waterskiing at Newlands
Arm and surfing at Ninety Mile Beach to the south
Take the car or passenger ferry to Raymond Island, a site of aboriginal
heritage, and discover the many species of birds, wild flowers and
koala spotting
Take a boat to Rottamah Island Bird Observatory or spot some 140
species of native birds in the Lake National park
Explore the Silt Jetties on the Mitchell River. Good views from
Eagle Point Bluff and a vehicle track which provides a closer view
and leads to some fine fishing spots.
